COBRA (backronym for COmmando Battalion for Resolute Action) is a specialised unit of the  Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) of India proficient in guerrilla tactics and jungle warfare. Originally established to counter the Naxalite problem CoBRA is deployed to address insurgent groups engaging in asymmetrical warfare. Currently numbering ten battalions, CoBRA is ranked among one of India's most experienced and successful law enforcement units



History
The Indian government established 10 units for CoBRA since 2008.


Training
Cobras are trained in the CRPF jungle warfare institutions in Belgaum and Koraput. Their training regime and duration is similar to that of lines of NSG Commandos. They are trained to adapt the art of camouflage and jungle warfare with main focus on jungle warfare . All the personnel are trained for heli borne insertion and drops.Regular refreshing training is carried out of the commandos to check their physical and firing skills matching the standard. Their role is to carry out reconnaissance and long range patrols, gather intelligence on the whereabouts of the insurgents, and also carry out ambushes and precision strikes when required. Their sniper teams can also be used to headshot key targets.
After 3 months of training in Belgaum or Koraput, CoBRA members are deployed to their respective units to counter-Naxal activities.

How's the Josh Warriors?

1-)The PARA SF is a Special Forces unit of the Indian Army's Parachute Regiment developed for the Special Operations, Direct Actions, Hostage Rescue, Special Reconnaissance, Foreign Internal Defence, Counter-Proliferation & Counter Insurgency. The main aim of a Parachute Regiment is a quick deployment of Warriors behind enemy lines to attack the enemy from behind and destroy their first line of defence.

2-)The personnel's qualifying the tests are sent to the PTS (Paratroopers Training School) located in Agra (UP). 5 jumps (Including 1 at Night) entitle the personnel's to wear the PARA Wings & the Maroon Beret. The personnel's who opt for Para (SF) undergo more specialized training of 3 successive months to suit them for their role in the diverse conditions. 


3-)All Indian Paratroopers are referred as the volunteers. There is a Probationary Period of 03 months for all the personnel's to judge their Physical & Mental abilities.

4-)To be a Para (Special Forces), All personnel's are first required to qualify as Paratroopers to show their skills and once selected, the personnel's may choose to the deadliest SF Selection


5-)The Regiment needs to be kept at an optimum level of Operational Efficiency and Physical Fitness. The selection furnish manpower which is comparatively young, physically fit, mentally robust, extremely intelligent, superiorly innovative and highly successfull to accomplish the assigned operational tasks. The Parachute Regiment is the only regiment in the Indian Army to have taken part in each and every operation in and outside the country.


6-)The name “ RED DEVILS ” was awarded to them by the soldiers of the German African Corps in Africa. The name “ RED ” is derived from the “ MAROON BERET ” wear by the paratroopers and is now a trade mark for all the paratroopers around the world.

7-)The Parachute Regiment is divided into two components. The One is the         traditional Parachute Forces units with the 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 Parachute. The        Second is the Parachute Special Forces units with the 1 Para SF, 2 Para SF,  9 Para SF, 10 Para SF and 21 Para SF.

8-)The 1 Para (SF) is trained for covert and overt operation; 2, 3 and 4 Para (SFs) is trained for urban warfare, unconventional warfare, foreign internal defence, special reconnaissance & so on


9-)5, 6, 7 and 8 Para are airborne units, not specialised in any particular warfare.

10-)The 9 Para (SF) is trained extensively in mountain warfare and cross-trained in the urban jungle and desert warfare.

11-)The 10 Para (SF), a residue from the 9 Para (SF) is the toughest battalion in PARA, trained for desert warfare and cross-trained in all other warfare.

12-)The 21 Para (SF) is permanently situated in North-East and is very highly trained in Counter Insurgency & Jungle Warfare and Guerrilla warfare being the best in camouflage and concealment and sniping as well.



13-)They can be self-sustained in enemy territory only for a brief period of probably up to 72 hrs beyond which they will be overrun by the sheer numbers of the enemy forces.

14-)The Special Forces Battalions are organised entirely differently in a way which give them the capability to operate in smaller teams. The SF, unlike the airborne, are used more for special missions and clandestine operations in enemy territory which require a lot of secrecy and the ability to operate in very small teams of five or six. The SF rarely operates as an entire Battalion.

How Ghatak platoon established



When four Jaish-e-Mohammad terrorists attacked the Army’s 12th Brigade in Uri sector on September 18, as many as 19 Indian soldiers lost their lives. Sixteen of those soldiers belonged to 6 Bihar, while three belonged to 10 Dogra.
At the end of September, when Indian soldiers conducted surgical strikes on terror camps in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, the troops included the crack Ghatak Platoons of the very same 6 Bihar and 10 Dogra battalions.
What actually is a Ghatak Platoon and what goes into the making of a Ghatak Platoon?
1--) The name  Ghatak (which means deadly in Hindi) infantry platoon spearheads strikes ahead of a battalion. Every infantry battalion in the Indian Army has one such platoon and only the most physically fit and motivated soldiers make it to the Ghatak Platoon.
2--) This soldiers are well-trained, well-armed and equipped to handle situations like terror strikes, hostage situations and counter-insurgency operations.
3--) They often act as shock troops and conduct assaults against enemy positions often without support from the rest of the battalion.
4--)Teir operational role is similar to Scout Sniper Platoon of the US Marines (USMC) and the Patrols platoon of the British Army.
5--)They are often asked to carry out tasks such as special reconnaissance, raids on enemy artillery positions, airfields, supply dumps and tactical headquarters.

6--)They are also capable to directing artillery and air attacks on targets deep within enemy lines
7--)This platton  is usually 20-man strong, consisting of a commanding Captain, 2 non-commissioned officers and some special teams like marksman and spotter pairs, light machine gunners, medic and radio operator. The remaining soldiers act as assault troopers.
8--)Most undergo training at the Commando Training Course in Belgaum, Karnataka. Often, other specialised training like heliborne assault, rock climbing, mountain warfare, demolitions, advanced weapons training, close quarter battle and infantry tactics are also given.
9--)Members of the platoon are also sent to the High Altitude Warfare School and Counterinsurgency and Jungle Warfare School.
10--)These units are equipped with the Tavor TAR-21, INSAS or a version of the AK-47 as their primary assault rifle. The marksmen are equipped with the Dragunov SVD sniper rifle and Heckler & Koch MSG-90 sniper rifles. They wear standard issue camouflage and body armour.

Ghatak Platoon, or Ghatak Commandos, is a reconnaissance platoon that is present in every infantry battlalon  in the Indian Army. Ghatak is a Hindi word meaning "killer" or "lethal". Their name was given to them by Gen. Bipin Chandra Joshi. They act as shock troop and spearhead assaults ahead of the battalion.

The most physically fit and motivated soldiers in an infantry battalion are selected to be a part of the Ghatak platoon. Personnel attend training at the Commando Training Course in Belgaum, Kathmandu As a part of the training, the soldiers are evaluated through speed marches in battle gear ranging from 20 to 60 km, carrying their rifles and 20 kg of weight in their rucksacks. Depending on their role and parent unit, the successful individuals often undergo specialized training in demolition, close quarter battle, navigation, rock climbing and heliborne assault. Some operators are sent to the High Altitude Warfare School and the counterinsurgency and Jungle Warfare Scholo as well.[2] However, most of them are not parachute qualified. It is mandatory for all infantry officers to pass the Commando Training Course.




Equipment 

Ghatak platoons are equipped with the IWI Tavor TAR-21INSAS, or a version of the AK-47 as their primary assault rifle. The marksmen are equipped with the Dragunov SVD and Heckler & Koch MSG-90 designated marksman rifles. They wear standard issue camouflage and body armour. Depending on the mission, they may carry other items like ropes, climbing gear, grenadesrocket launchers, laser target designators and night vision equipment. Some of the equipment for them are manufactured indigenously by the Indian Ordnance Factories, while other items are obtained from foreign suppliers.
Currently, the Indian Army is upgrading the equipment of these units by procuring lighter body armour, personal communication sets, anti-materiel rifles and various other mission specific equipment.. A deal worth $5.75 million was signed with M/S B&T Switzerland for the acquisition of 1,568 advanced Brügger & Thomet MP9 sub-machine guns for the Ghatak platoons of infantry battalions. Additionally, door breaching ammunition and non-lethal systems like stun grenades and ballistic shields are being procured for counter-insurgency operations.

Unit Composition
A Ghatak platoon is usually 20-men strong, consisting of a commanding Captain, 2 non commision officer and some specialised soldiers like sniper team, light machine gunner, medics and radio operator. The remaining soldiers act as assault troopers.

How to become Marcos Marine Commando:-


If you are preparing to join Indian elite forces then the young and fresh soldiers are recruit in the age of Max 25. Commando requires the young and energetic Soldier who is physically and mentally fit.
because special forces play a crucial role in neutralizing the terror threats and maintaining internal peace in the nation. As the name signifies, the force is specialized to respond to any terror threat and taking the required actions to avert it. As Indian armed forces have their own special forces like paramilitary force, GARUD etc. MARCOS is a special force that is maintained by Indian navy to handle emergency situations arising from various means. 



Marine Commando Force (MCF):-
 It is a  a branch of the Indian navy, this force is specialized in critical warfare, counter terrorism, rescue operation, unconventional warfare, etc. the force is active since 1987 and currently has nearly 2000 soldiers serving in the organization. They are known for their action in 26/11 Mumbai attacks. It is attached with the Indian army in to operate in northern areas like Kashmir. Not only this, they were also engaged in operation Cactus, Leech, Pawan, Cyclone etc. Their remarkable job was appreciated in many operations. The motto of this force is “The few the fearless”.

Recruitment:-

It is the most important topic for you because here you come to know the recruitment and then recruitment for Marcos and all commandos are male being a part of Indaian Navy. The selection is done at the early age of soldiers, i.e. in the 20s of fresh soldiers to maintain the strength and josh in the force. Well, as per the criteria, the aspirants get a chance to get inducted in the Indian navy through NDA, CDS, SSC etc. and also through direct recruitment for lower posts. The required basic physical strength is high and so is the training process. So aspirants to get into this organization, you need to first become a part of the Indian navy. The selection process consists of two parts. First one is three days long where a soldier’s physical stamina is accessed. The next phase of screening is tougher and then makes the final selection of soldiers for further training. The screening or selection phase rejects more than half applicants on the basis of their physical stamina required for the force.

Training– 

We know that Marcos, Garud,Para SF ect they all are specila and elite forces of our country because of their specialty there training are also special it takes 2-3 years to train a MARCOS commando. The majority of training of MARCOS takes place over INS Abhimanyu. The training actually takes place at various agencies of Indian navy and the Indian army. They also get training with army’s paramilitary force at Indian special force training school.
So all aspirants planning to become MARCOS are required to become naval soldiers first, and then they will get a chance to get golden chance to join the elite force, MARCOS. Being a part of special force is a matter of honor for a soldier.
